Youngters wow at horse show

All the trophy winners: Kate Erwin, Kylie Erwin, Rachel Brun on Montana Sky, Robyn Blasen, Natasha Fox, Micaela Brun and Cheryl Jacobs

THE annual Zululand Championship Horse Show was held at the Meerensee Equestrian Club on Saturday and Sunday.
The turn-out of children riding this year out-numbered adults and juniors and the competition among the children was stronger than it has been in about seven years.
And so, it was the pony riders’ show jumping that had everyone sitting on the edge of their seats wondering which combination of pony and rider was going to do a round in the fastest time.
Silver Star and Kate Ervine won the championship show jumping class by 0.6 seconds.
The overall pony riders dressage winner was Micaela Brun on Trinity.
In the novice dressage, Rachel Brun on Montana Sky scooped top spot, followed by Cheryl Jacobs on Tecumseh.
The junior and adult prelim dressage winner was Natashia Fox on Second Officer and in the novice dressage was Natashia Fox on Crown Land.
In the show riding pony category, Micaela Brun on Trinity won with Rachel Brun riding Montana Sky in second and Clive Hyde on Tuscany in third.
In the junior and adults show riding horse category, the winner was Robyn Blasen on About A Pound, with Marilyn Andre on Ramazotti in second and Natashia Fox on Second Officer in third.
In the working hunter for pony riders, Rachel Barrett on Scott was first.
In the junior and adults working hunter, Natashia Fox on Second Officer was first.
In the pony riders equitation novice test Cheryl Jacobs on Tecumseh was the best, followed by Rachel Brun on Montana Sky and Clive Hyde on Tuscany.

Show jumping on Sunday
In the pony riders two foot three inch welcome stakes, Tyla Thompson riding Royal Pip was first.
The junior and adults two foot three inch welcome stakes went to Sarah Weidemann riding the Prince of Orange.
In the pony riders two foot six inch welcome stakes, Kate Ervine on Silver Star was first.
The junior and adults two foot six inch and two foot nine inch welcome stakes was won by Lize Campbell on Tyson.
In the pony riders 18 inch accumulator, first place went to Jenny Barrett on Pablo Picasso.
In the pony riders two foot three inch accumulator, first was Cheryl Jacobs on Tecumseh.
In the junior and adults two foot three inch accumulator, Sarah Weidemann on Prince of Orange was tops.
In the pony riders two foot six inch accumulator, Rachel Brun on Montana Sky was first.
In the junior and adults two foot six inch and two foot nine inch accumulator, Robyn Blasen on About A Pound was tops.
The pony riders two foot three inch class went to Jenny Barrett on Pablo Picasso.
In the junior and adults two foot three inch class, first place went to Jayde Cope on Farringdon.
In the pony riders two foot six inch class, first place went to Kate Ervine on Silver Star.
In the junior and adults two foot six inch and two foot nine inch class, first went to Kylie Ervine on Jasper.
The Zululand Pony Club U11 Victor Ludorum for pony riders was awarded to Micaela Brun and Trinity.
The Pony Riders Victor Ludorum was won by Rachel Brun and Montana Sky.
The Junior Victor Ludorum trophy was won by Kylie Ervine on Jasper and the adults was won by Natashia Fox on Crown Land.
