KWAMBO’S efforts to halt the progress of Tusk Rugby Club failed to materialise on Saturday with Empangeni securing a substantial 91 run victory.
In the other Saturday Afternoon League matches, eShowe and Felixton’s game was rained out while Village proved too good for Mtuba.
At Richards Bay, RBCT did themselves proud, taking out uMhlathuze Cricket Club while Woodpeckers and Richards Bay Rugby Club were winners over UniZul and Brackenham respectively.
At Addison Park, a flat track gave the batsmen the upper hand with Rugby Club racing to a handsome 169/3.
They lost Gary Bishop 8, and Gavin Glasspoel 11, early on before Richard Cowlard 44, and Eugene Zwart, with another superb innings of 95, stabilised the ship.
Kwambo lost their top four batsmen for just 12 in reply and, from that moment onwards, were a lost cause.
Jared Martin took 4/20 in his six overs, while Gary Bishop 4/11, sealed the match for the Rugby Club.
Only Grant Harrison with 2/26 and 27 runs, and Heino Redinger with 22 not out, were able to compete with the rampant Rugby Club.

Mtuba
Village sent the home side into bat and, with Mike Brown 4/26, and Wayne Karg 3/29, on target, Mtuba were dismissed for 108.
Andy Grant 63, and Siyabonga Ntuli 16, were top scorers in their disappointing total.
Village reached their target in the 14th over for the loss of three wickets.
Wayne Karg, who has played his last match for Village, top scored with 55.
He received excellent support from John Antselmo who made 19.
uMhlathuze and RBCT, batting for supremacy on the eastern section of the log, played out a thriller with 323 runs being scored for the loss of 13 wickets.
uMhlathuze, batting first, were dismissed for 160 with Francis Ball 30, Donny Cloete 25, and Ruan Kruger 22, top scoring.
Meyer Goosen 3/15 in four overs, and Allan Reynolds 3/27, were the top bowlers.
RBCT made an excellent reply, reaching their target in the 21st over for the loss of only three wickets.
Anru Kriel, who hit four sixes and 10 fours in his undefeated 88, and Simon Rollo 26, steered their side to victory.
These two teams now share the top position on the log.

Veldenvlei
Richards Bay Rugby Club were all out for 138 in their match with Brackenham.
Ricardo Patrick 34, André Dekker 26, and Nathan Usher 22, were their top scorers.
Rajen Govender 5/50, and Daren Ellaphen 3/28, took the wickets.
Brackenham made a spirited reply but were 12 runs short when their last wicket fell.
Rowan Moodley and Dillan Abraham who both scored 25, and Neeshen Singh 15, were the best batsmen.
Chris Mocke 6/40, and Cameron Atkins 3/23, bowled their side to victory.
Finally, Woodpeckers reached 165/8 with Kevin Rudolf 29, and Byron Jollivet 57, the top scorers in their match with UniZul.
Sandile Ndlovu 3/20, and Paul Twala 3/32, were the wicket takers.
In reply, UniZul were dismissed for 85 with Michael Cooper 3/4, Byron Jollivet 2/23, and Peter Daniels 2/16, destroying the opposition.
