Farewell amazing
all-rounder

Bowlers have come to
fear Wayne Karg.
Most know if you
don’t get him out
early, be prepared
to often fetch the
ball from the
boundary rope

Wayne’s bowling has
improved to such a
degree that any team
will select him
outright as just a
bowler
Mike
Harrison
WAYNE Karg’s
departure on a
business transfer to
Johannesburg is
going to be a big
loss to Empangeni
and uThungulu
cricket.
We wish him well in
his new venture but
are sad to see one
of our top
all-rounders taking
off for other
pastures.
He leaves uThungulu
to take up his new
position on
Wednesday 1
November.
As a top order
batsman, he has made
the number three
position his own
after the past few
seasons.
He has the
temperament and
skills to develop
even further once he
settles down into a
way of life in his
new environment.
Things will
definitely be a
little different up
there where the
bowling is much
sharper and of a
different standard.
Knowing Wayne, and
having watched him
develop and play
over the past few
seasons, I feel
confident he will
mature into an even
better player.
He certainly has all
the shots to do so.
As a bowler, Wayne
is now swinging the
ball both ways and
has developed into a
useful first change
bowler and
wicket-taker.
What more can a
skipper ask for than
to have his number
three batsman
develop into one of
his better bowlers
as well.
In the field he has
been a wonderful
example to the rest
of the team.
He boasts safe hands
and a marvellous
sense of
anticipation.
Indoor
During the winter
months Wayne moved
to indoor cricket
where he made his
mark as well,
gaining selection
for the SA U25 team.
We are certainly
going to miss this
likeable young man
who has really left
a good impression,
both on and off the
field, during his
years here in
uThungulu.
