Breakthrough in Mtuba murder
Ronelle Ramsamy
POLICE detectives have made a
breakthrough in the case of a senseless
killing of a well known businessman in
Mtubatuba almost two weeks ago.
This after a witness in the murder of Jimmy
Kostoponus managed to identify the suspect
in a police parade.
The 65 year-old owner of Lucky Seven Store
was shot shortly after opening his shop on
the Mtubatuba main street for business on 26
July.
Two unknown men allegedly entered the shop
at around 7am pretending to be customers.
Following the murder, Mtubatuba police
worked closely with a witness who was
present at the shop during the incident.
Police received a tip-off from an informant
that the suspect would be appearing at the
Hluhluwe Court on another charge of armed
robbery on 28 July.
The suspect was apprehended soon after his
court appearance and an identification
parade was held at the Mtubatuba Police
Station.
According to police, the witness immediately
pointed out the suspect who was then charged
for the murder of Kostoponus.
Bheka Mdamba (24) made his first court
appearance last Wednesday, where the case
was postponed to 8 August.
