Wesley jumps in early

ZULULAND Shore Angling hosted the second round for the new fishing year during the past weekend. The weather forecast predicted bad weather for the weekend but luckily it did not materialize and the weather was beautiful. Although July is usually not a month that produces big fish, some great catches were made. Kwambo A was one of the teams that landed some of these fish and managed to give themselves a huge lead early in the season by scoring 815.1 points. Wesley Rapson and Rob Kyle made up most of these points. Wesley landed two ragged-tooth sharks, one of 199.9kg and one of 166.2kg. Rob landed a blackfin shark of 102.1kg and a raggie of 132.1kg. No harm All these fish were landed without being gaffed or harmed. After landing, they were weighed and returned to the water. Zululand Shore Angling has a strict policy of catch and release and all fish caught during competitions are measured and returned to the water. By doing this, we are ensuring that our reefs stay in a healthy condition and we can all enjoy our sport for many more years to come. Top angler for the weekend was Wesley Rapson on 439.3 points. Top Master was Tommy Sims of St Lucia A on 179.7 points. Top Lady angler was N Pereira of Richards Bay Angling Club on 18.5 points and the top junior was B Blignaut of St Lucia AC on 14.8 points. The biggest edible was a 10.8kg kob by N van Blerk of St Lucia AC and the biggest inedible was Wesley’s 199.9kg raggie.
