Biker bobbies beat crime
THROUGH the efforts of
members of the Empangeni
Community Police Forum, two
Crime Prevention Unit
members from Empangeni SAPS
are patrolling the town on
motorbikes.
On Friday, Empangeni Country
Club (ECC) committee members
as well as residents of
homes bordering the golf
course hosted a braai to
thank the men for their
dedication.
Organiser and ECC committee
member Shaun Francis thanked
the SAPS, saying that golf
days would be arranged in
future to help raise funds
towards increasing the
number of motorbikes
available.
Empangeni Station
Commissioner Director PB
Langa thanked the ECC
committee for this gesture
of appreciation, saying that
events such as this go a
long way to boosting the
morale of members of the
station.
He added that they have had
a good response from
operations carried out by
the SAPS members on their
bikes.
‘It is good to see the
community contributing
towards crime prevention,’
said Langa.
He also thanked ‘Cycle Cops’
Inspector Johan ‘Ore’
Hartzenberg and Constable
Johan Kriege and urged them
to keep up the good work.
