A RESTAURANT in the Small
Craft Harbour suffered
extensive damage after a car
smashed through the middle
of the premises.
Police are calling on the
community to assist with
information regarding the
incident which happened in
the early hours of Monday 21
August.
Owner of Doc Side Den,
Martin Fourie said he was
distraught to find his
business wrecked when he
arrived at work.
‘The security guard heard a
huge crash and ran to the
scene, only to spot a
vehicle speeding away.
‘From the tyre tracks, it
appears as though the driver
tried to turn the corner and
missed.
‘I am just thankful it did
not happen while patrons
were in the restaurant,’
said Fourie.
The vehicle crashed through
one side of the restaurant,
sending tables and chairs
flying into the back of the
room.
Recordings from the port
security cameras are
currently being checked and
police are investigating the
case.
The road running alongside
the restaurant is a known
hotspot for drag racing over
the weekend.
